My name is Ibtu, and I run the show here at Sartorial.
My photography journey started back in 2017, when I bought my first Canon Rebel at a pawn shop to take photos for a menswear blog I was starting. Turns out, my wife Kayla thought it was a little too expensive of a hobby, so I started picking up a few small paid gigs to justify the expense.
Somewhere along the way, though, I realized I found a surprising amount of fulfillment in photographing people as my subject—not just the clothes they were wearing, but the people themselves. But the more people I photographed, the more I realized that what I really loved was preserving a little piece of who they were in that moment.
I originally imagined Sartorial as a photography studio focused primarily on editorial work with clothing brands. Instead, I found myself getting just as much, if not more, from photographing everyday people during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Whether it's a graduation, a wedding, a growing family, or simply a season of life worth remembering, I love creating photographs that let you come back to those memories, years—or even decades—later.
The word Sartorial is commonly used in reference to tailored clothing. That idea has always felt fitting to me.
My goal is to custom-tailor the photography experience to you and create portraits that fit you as perfectly as a bespoke suit.
